Candidates for State Party Chair Answer Tough Questions

South Texas Chisme has compiled a great Q and A of the three candidates running for State Party Chair- Glen Maxey, Boyd Richie and, Charlie Urbina-Jones (if the other candidates have websites, please let me know so I can add them).

Instead of listening to all the pundits and officials, read it for yourself and voice your opinion.

Boyd Richie just lost me with his inane last answer.
Yes, the convention structure meets certain Democratic ideals, but let's face it - that process is obsolete!! Democratic ideals need to march along with the times. I am planning to participate in my district convention, but I'm not under any illusion that it's an effective means of really deciding adequate SDEC leaders or a party platform. It's a venue to socialize, and nothing more.

I think Charlie and Glen are far more competitive in their answers. Both are up-to-date with the times and understand the party as it exists.

I am glad that there is an actual debate now. None of the candidates are attacking each other, and in Maxey's case he is actually organizing for candidates like BAR and Bell.

So if Maxey is supporting Bell, why is Bell endorsing Boyd?

And Demosthenes, Maxey wants to be TDP chair. Who's he gonna support for Governor, Kinky Friedman?

Thank you for that link.

Kuff,

Perhaps you're mistaking the stones in my mouth for an inadequate brain.

Maxey, as indefatigable as he is, only has a finite amount of energy and resources to put into the 2006 campaign. If he were spiteful, he might choose to forego the governor's race, and put a greater share of those limited resources into the U.S. Senate race or taking back the State House.

Of course, if he is elected, I'm certain that he will do his best to promote the whole ticket.

My point, in case it was missed, was that if Glen Maxey has been supporting Bell, why would Bell turn on him? Is Boyd really that wonderful of an organizer?
